Easy way to change the plane of a sketch in part mode
Easy moving of a sketch (and associated feature if applicable) to another plane (in part mode). The need to erase and redraw wrong positionned sketches could be avoided allowing some timesaving along the design process.

pattern multiple parts in an assembly with one pattern
Often, we need to pattern multiple parts around an axis; such as a pattern of bolts, lockwashers, and nuts around a pipe flange. Right now each item has to be patterned separately, unless it was created as a sub assembly.

Basic Surfacing Features
I understand that Alibre Design is not a free-form surface modeler or an industrial design package, but basic surfacing features allow mechanical designers to create parts built by processes other than machining, like plastic molding or forging.
Many complex shapes or distortions capable with mo... more

Collision detection in Alibre Motion
Alibre motion needs to have a collision detectection feature where a part in motion is arrested wehn it contacts another part. This feature should also be able to take into account a part in motion being acted upon by a return spring and being acted upon or acting upon a camming feature.
Status: plannedPlanned for Motion 2.0:
*Motor Limits
*2D Curve Contact Detection (tentative) -

Bi-Directional "To Geometry"&"To Next" option
The ability to Extrude, Sweep, Fillet, or Chamfer from one geometry (Solid or Reference Plane etc.) to another - the position of the defining Sketch (in the case of Extrude & Sweep) being at any point .

Usability enhancements before feature enhancements
The usabilty of Alibre in some dialogs is ugly uncomfortable, i.e. context menue or equation editor.
a.) equation editor
- a double click into a line should open the editor to alter a value of the parameter
- a change of the parameter's name should automatically alter all the references of thi... more -

Automatic Weld Generator
Incude an automatic weld feature to generate welds. Solidworks has this feature. A lot of equipment is produced from weldments. This would especially be beneficial for accurate FEA stress analysis. Now, I have to physically draw every weld now and assemble it into the model while leaving one to 3... more

Sequential movement in Alibre Motion
Currently, Alibre Motion has constant linear/rotational movement or reciprocating movement to choose from. These run the entire time the simulation is running. I propose to have a sequence of events (i.e., slide clamp detail over workpiece, then clamp the workpiece, then etc.).
Status: plannedOn the schedule for Motion 2.0

Automatic gear generator
It would be extremely useful to have a utility whereby simple solid models of spur gears, helical gears or bevel gears can be generated given basic geometric parameters.

"To Geometry" & "To Next" enhancements
True "To Geometry & To Next" option for Extrude, Sweep etc. while creating Parts within an Assembly. At present, To Geometry just gives a planar termination at the nearest contact point. and To Next is not enabled.
This is also required for Extrude Cut "To Geometry" withi... more

Anchor All - Parts and Sub-assemblies
An imported Assembly STEP file is unconstrained and it is necessary to Anchor all the Parts and Sub-assemblies to stop them moving while you work on the model. This is a tedious process when there are many Parts and Sub-assemblies. It would be great to be able to "Anchor All" and "... more
