Convert a solid part to a sheetmetal part
For example I'd like to start with a block, shell it, convert it to sheetmetal and rip the corners to create a formed sheetmetal box that could be unbent.
Will be available in Alibre 2011, which will be released in Fall

It will be awesome for the new lofted flange, because part modeling could make a lot of features, with complex flanges.

would be very useful in my business to be able to import .step files which were designed as sheetmetal in there native CAD program and then be able to convert them to sheetmetal parts that can be unfolded, Solidworks has this feature!

... This would be very useful, and would become more like the "standard" SolidWorks ...

I like this idea!
It would also be helpful to convert a sheetmetal part to a solid part. This would allow
secondary operations to be defined on the part. Example: milling a 0.060" pocket in
0.187" thick aluminum. -
